Art comes from art only, always, everywhere, never from life, reality, nature, earth, or heaven. Art has only its own formal problems and attentions. Visions, images, symbols, representations, sensations, impulses are, as they were in medieval times, still for "the minds of the ignorant" and for "the poor in spirit."
