Jim Howe has played drums since he was nine years old in Louisville, Kentucky, where he played with popular local dance bands. Jim moved to San Francisco to further his musical career, but instead got a Ph.D. in Materials Science at UC-Berkeley. He currently plays with John Carden and Greenwich Swing Time, ACME Swing Manufacturing Company, George Melvin's B3 Quartet, Jazz Collective #9, and the Charlottesville Jazz Engineers. Jim teaches and performs research on phase transformations in materials as a professor in the Materials Science Department at the University of Virginia.

Audrey Goldsmith has played in theatre productions and music cabarets in Charlottesville for a number of years. She studied jazz piano with Bob Hallahan, Andy LaVerne, and David Hazeltine. Audrey has an M.Sc. in Mathematics from Wright State University and a career in Computer Communications Engineering.

Bob DuCharme played lead guitar in loud rock bands in his youth in New York City and has played jazz upright bass since moving to Charlottesville in 2003, where he studies with Pete Spaar. Bob has an M.Sc. in computer science from New York University.
